In 2004 I started my first House campaign with these simple words: “Lower taxes, less government, more opportunities for the people of Maine.” I spent 6 years in the minority and in those years I submitted dozens of principled, Republican issue bills and did so against overwhelming odds, when the Democrats controlled the legislature. I did this, because I believe that we need to fight the fights on these issues that need to be fought, no matter the outcome of that day, on issues like calling out Baldacci on his sanctuary state order, Welfare Reform, Tax Reform, keeping Maine Drivers Licences out of Illegals hands and making government more responsive and efficient in so many ways, all for the public who are paying for it. We needed to fight those fights so that the hard working citizens of Maine could see that there was someone, a small group of Republicans who were fighting the good fight for them, and for their future, and that we were ready for the day when we would be called to lead.
When the voters of Maine turned the tables in the elections of 2010 resulting in a Republican majority in both the House and Senate as well as a Governor who would do the right thing for the people of Maine, I submitted a lot of those ideas again. Some of them like welfare reform, and eliminating the automatic increases on our gas taxes, are now maine law because I kept the issues alive in the Democrat controlled years when other Republicans hid in the shadows and gave up before they even tried.
I have worked hard at recruiting and helping dozens of republican candidates for office over the years because I believe in the principles that make the Republican party and good government great. Limited government that respects the individuals liberty and gets out of businesses way so they can
create jobs, because economic liberty comes when free men are free to prosper.
I also believe it is important for Representatives to keep in constant communication with the people they represent and I have worked hard at keeping the people of the Lake Region informed with over 70 articles in the Bridgton news, my web site RichCebra.com, a Lake Region TV show with other area representatives, my district office hotline, several mail newsletters and countless interviews and appearances on Portland area radio and TV, all designed to stay close to our residents and fill the media gap and counter the main stream media that has becomed a wholy owned subsidiary of the Maine Democrat Party.
I believe you deserve a government that holds itself accountable, lives within its means, and gets the job done through representation that is responsive and responsible to you, in a manner of uncompromising integrity. I have done that for 8 years in the House of Representatives and I want to continue to move forward in the Senate, because there is still a lot of work to do.
I am ready to roll up my sleeves in the Maine State Senate and get the job done.
It’s time to imagine better Government, you can BELIEVE IN MAINE AGAIN! Now let’s get to work
together and achieve it, elect me, Rich Cebra to the Maine State Senate.
